Post Ramdhan and Raya

Syawal concluded on Friday the thirteenth of July. There has not been any ride yet, unless you count the two below as a bona fide ride.
First, it was the “asam pedas lunch” in Sungai Sembilang, just after Kapar.

I was back in Malaysia on 27th June (Wednesday), completing my tour of duty in Cambodia. July would be my official month of transfer back to Malaysia.
Sunday, 1st July, four of us did this “maiden ride after over a month break” due to the fasting month and idul-fitri celebration. Well, it’s been one week after Hari Raya. So the itch to get on the bikes got stronger… hahahaha…
Nizam arrives as we were finishing...
Four of us rode – WaqMT09, Zack, Mzac and me of course. While Nizam@knizy drove. What matters was, we got together, had a good lunch, and got rid of the itch... :-)
Four Asam Pedas - Telur Sembilang, Ikan Sembilang, Pari, & Kembong
After the scrumptious lunch, Mzac, Zack and me headed to AjiKTM’s shop… to berhari raya with him, so to speak….
AjiKTM's Shop - our almost regular hangout place now
Second ride – One week after – that would be the next weekend for those who cant count the days hahahaha… two of us rode to Nox’s open house as one. I guess you could say it was a warm up ride for me and Mzac.

It was Saturday July the 7th, and it was the month of Syawal or the “raya” month as fondly referred to in Malaysia. This would be the month, the whole month after Ramadhan, that people do this “open house” – basically hosting friends and neighbors and families for a “jamuan raya” (raya feast?).
Nox, Nizam, Sham, Sabri (Mzac shooting)
Anyway, Nox’s open house was today and Mzac insisted we ride to Nox’s house. And that we did… and we we’re the only guest that came on a big bike. Others, as anyone would normally do, came by car with their family members or at least third wives. After all, open houses are meant to be celebrated with families, although not a must.
Well, that was that. After savouring the satay, the nasi minyak and what not, Mzac and I decided to go to AjiKTM’s shop. Why? Simply because the “ride’ to Nox’s house was too short and too near – our bike’s engine was not warmed up enough… hahahaha…
Zack came immediately after learning we were at the shop, bringing two durians. Yeayyyy!
two nice ones...
And, he rode his new steed, the X-Adv. First encounter up close for me. And Zack was kind enough to let me have a spin around the block.
it gets to you....
A very nice ride indeed. But the short spin was too short for me to make any “judgement” about this bike/scooter… scoobike? bikescoot?  :-)
... so, what say you? :-)
So much for the “getting back to riding after a two months break”….
Everyone was on the “open house” and “jamuan raya” mood plus “musim durian” (durian season) mood. Coincidentally, this time of the year the durian has been in abundance; thus the price dropped to a very affordable range – RM4 to RM8 per kilogram. It was (and still is) so much so in abundance that the weekend after NoX’ open house, Razzman called out a “pulut durian open house”.
Mzac again suggested we ride to Nilai, where Razzman lived. I agreed. Nobody else were up to it, simply because open houses are meant for you to bring along your spouse and kids. Mzac and me? The wife and kids prefer to do their own things hahahaha…
However, Mzac had a tyre puncture the night before that could not be mended on time that Saturday. Thus, he excused himself from going. Suddenly, it became one of those “might as well” moment…. Since I drove to AjiKTM’s shop to pick up my bike, and everyone else was driving, might as well I drove to Razzman’s.
Rik trying to persuade AjiKTM to go along; he had to be elsewhere...
Rik was at AjiKTM’s when I got there. And Idrus was on his way to send his Kymco for servicing. Thus, the three of us went together in my car to Razzman’s home.
A very delicious "pulut durian" indeed!
Razzman's home...
Quite a number of us graced the open house – Haji Azizi & spouse, Faizal & family, Batt66 & family, Zack & family, Drifter & family, Don & family…. did I miss anyone? Of course the three of us (me, Rik & Idrus) was also there.
To NoX and Razzman, jazzakallahu kathira for hosting.

To all of UOMOs… Let’s ride!

P/S. The next weekend, AjiKTM hosted an open house at his shop. But that’s another story. Continuing in this post would definitely be a bore…. and too long :-)
